Coalition of Independents Official Release of The Vision for Transport
The Bahamas faces critical transportation challenges that hinder economic growth and quality of life. From gridlocked roads in Nassau to inefficient public transit, and from aviation setbacks to maritime connectivity gaps, the current system incurs high costs and frustration. Traffic jams during daily peak hours lead to lost productivity and higher fuel expenses, while limited inter-island transport raises the cost of goods and travel. This five-year vision statement outlines a comprehensive, publicly accessible plan (2025–2030) to transform Bahamian transportation – improving efficiency, safety, and sustainability. It identifies major pain points and root causes, and proposes actionable, financially viable solutions leveraging innovative technologies (electric buses, overhead cable transit, blockchain systems, electric aircraft) alongside policy and infrastructure reforms. Strategic milestones are defined year-by-year, with clear roles for key stakeholders and anticipated outcomes that align with national development goals.
